Bodega del Abad is a family winery in Carracedelo, at the heart of El Bierzo, producing monovarietal wines under the D.O. Bierzo from the indigenous Mencía and Godello varieties. Its wines are intended to express the region’s landscape, terroir, and winemaking traditions. The vineyards lie in the upper areas of Valtuille de Arriba and Villafranca del Bierzo, including steep, elevated sites with slate, quartzite, clay, gravel, and fine soils. The winery practices responsible, sustainable viticulture, working parcels individually and respecting soil diversity. Its Carracedo Mencía comes from more than 85-year-old head-trained vines. Founded in 2000 and inaugurated in 2003, the winery is currently run by Adriana Ulibarri with winemaker José Cervera, combining native varieties and traditional regional identity with modern facilities and French-oak élevage.
