Podere Don Cataldo is a family-run estate of the Rocca family in Salento, with roots in wine dating to 1880 and five generations of passion for the region. Its vineyards in Leverano lie on predominantly clay-limestone soils, with some tufaceous areas, under a warm, ventilated Mediterranean climate influenced by sea breezes. The estate cultivates Salento varieties including Negroamaro, Primitivo, Nero di Troia and Susumaniello, alongside Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Vermentino. Careful vineyard management and selection of grapes are combined with traditional practices and modern technology, from gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation to maturation in French oak and underground concrete vats. The winery operates from a restored traditional Masseria, preserving local architectural character while pursuing consistent quality.
