Domaine Fernand Engel is a historic, family-run estate in Rorschwihr, Alsace, with viticultural references dating to 742 and a modern foundation established by Fernand Engel in 1949. Now managed across generations by the Engel family, including Xavier Baril and Sandrine Engel, it farms organically under ECOCERT certification and also practices certified biodynamics. Its vineyards occupy a mosaic of parcels around Rorschwihr, Bergheim and neighboring villages, with clay-limestone, marl, granite, gneiss and loessic soils. The domaine’s approach emphasizes biodiversity, careful manual vineyard work and respect for each parcel. Grapes are pressed and fermented separately, with slow fermentations and élevage on fine lees. Wines are described as precise, straight and terroir-driven, spanning Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Crémant, Grand Cru, Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles.
