Domaine Bruno Lorenzon

France

Domaine Bruno Lorenzon is a family-owned estate in Mercurey, in Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, founded in 1958 and run by Bruno Lorenzon since 1997, with assistance from his sister Carline. The domaine farms vineyards in Mercurey and Montagny with a strong focus on soil health: no herbicides have been used for more than 30 years, and viticulture is described as certified biodynamic, with meticulous ploughing, high-density planting, tall vines, low yields and hand harvesting. Bruno oversees the wines from vineyard to cellar, avoiding chaptalization and acidification in pursuit of purity, minerality and balance. He uses whole-cluster fermentation in recent vintages and designs and makes the domaine’s barrels himself, selecting the wood in Burgundy. The wines emphasize the identity of each vintage and the potential of Mercurey’s limestone-rich terroirs.
