Founded in Liguria in 2018, Cian Cianin is a family-owned natural wine label run by Margherita Barberotti and Valentina Melani, who are also the winemakers. The vineyards have been organically farmed from the outset and transitioned to biodynamics after one year, with manual soil work, green manure, grassing, biodynamic preparations and earthworm humus. Vineyard inputs are limited to low-impact materials including copper, non-systemic sulfur, bitter orange oil, propolis, zeolite and antagonistic bacteria. Working across several parcels in Liguria, including a vineyard in Colli di Luni, the estate focuses on small-scale, hand-crafted, low-intervention winemaking.
