Alphonse Mellot is a family-owned estate in Sancerre, Loire Valley, now in its 19th generation. The domaine centers on the historic La Moussière vineyard, featuring Kimmeridgian limestone and marl soils. Alphonse Senior (the 18th Alphonse) leads winemaking alongside his children Alphonse Junior and Emmanuelle Mellot. The vineyards are cultivated organically and biodynamically without chemical inputs, employing manual upkeep, high-density planting, and low yields. This meticulous approach extends to their flagship Edmond Vintage and other grands vins de Sancerre, reflecting a commitment to terroir expression and sustainable farming.
