Tawny Port

Ferreira is a historic Douro producer in Portugal with roots going back to vineyards acquired by Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira in 1863. The estate is owned and operated by sixth-generation descendants João Ferreira Álvares Ribeiro, Francisco Spratley Ferreira, and Francisco (Vito) Olazabal. Its vineyards include certified organic parcels at Quinta do Vallado, where minimal-intervention farming is practiced, alongside broader certified sustainable viticulture under Integrated Production guidelines. Winemaking has historical ties to Nicolau de Almeida, with current leadership including Francisco Olazabal, Francisco Ferreira, and Luís Sottomayor. Ferreira is noted for its Douro and vintage Port production, combining long family continuity with a strong focus on sustainable farming.
