Mas del Périé is a family-owned estate in Cahors, in France’s Sud-Ouest, founded and run by Fabien Jouves on the high slopes around Trespoux-Rassiels. The domaine is certified organic and biodynamic, with Demeter and Biodyvin certification, and works plot by plot on marl and limestone soils to show different expressions of Malbec. Farming is rooted in biodiversity, with practices including hand harvesting, hedgerows, beehives, viti-forestry and mixed agriculture. In the cellar, Jouves follows a natural, low-intervention approach, using native fermentations, no added oenological inputs and very low sulfur, with élevage tailored in concrete, barrels, casks or amphora according to each wine. The style emphasizes freshness, fruit and finesse.
