Portugal

Geographic Wines is a modest-scale Portuguese producer founded and operated by Nuno Morais Vaz and Daniela Matias. Working across the Douro, Vinho Verde and Bairrada, they seek wines that authentically express individual terroirs and Portugal’s viticultural heritage. Their sources include old vineyards and Atlantic-influenced sites in the Lima Valley, where clay-schist and granite soils contribute to the wines’ character. The couple emphasizes social and environmental sustainability, close relationships with viticulturists, and minimal-intervention winemaking: spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, gentle pressing, long macerations and separate vinification of parcels. Their style favors textured acidity, mineral expression and distinctive site character, with field blends and old vines central to the portfolio.
