Germany

Fürstlich Castell’sche Domäne is a family-owned VDP estate in Castell, Franken, led by Ferdinand, Prince of Castell-Castell. Known as the home of Silvaner, it cultivates largely sole-owned vineyards across Casteller sites, including five monopoles, on Gipskeuper, shell-limestone, Keuper and sandstone soils. Silvaner is the signature variety, alongside Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and others. Winemaking is overseen by Björn Probst with Peter Hemberger and Christian Frieß, combining traditional methods with a focus on the region’s mineral character. The estate produces still and sparkling wines, including Silvaner Gutswein in the traditional Bocksbeutel and VDP-classified wines from old-vine Gemischter Satz vineyards.
