Château Gros Caillou is a historic Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate, created in 1880 and located on sandy-gravel soils. The property was acquired by Jean-François Fonteneau in 2017 and underwent extensive renovation, while the Dupuy family—Jacques and Eric—are also identified as its four-generation owners and hands-on managers. The estate began converting to organic agriculture in 2018, and its wines are marketed as vegan, though no certification is noted. Vines over 40 years old are planted mainly to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaking emphasizes balance between alcohol and acidity, with experimentation using jars and Eggonum vessels alongside traditional methods. The estate also features innovative barrel storage and welcomes visitors for tastings.
