Château du Mourre du Tendre is a family domaine in Courthézon, in the Rhône Valley, cultivated by the Paumel family for seven generations. Jacques Paumel took over in 1962 and, with his wife Josephine, began estate bottling in 1988; today Florence Paumel and her son Paul Vérité carry the estate forward, with Paul leading the winemaking since 2013. The estate works old vines, mainly Grenache with some Mourvèdre, across diverse soils around the domaine. Farming is traditional and minimalist, with manual harvests, mechanical soil work, no chemical weeding or pesticides, and HVE-certified, sustainable lutte raisonnée practices. In the cellar, the approach remains simple and low-intervention, using whole-bunch semi-carbonic maceration and élevage in steel and concrete to produce wines focused on balance, elegance, structure, and finesse.
