Agathe Bursin is a family-run estate in Westhalten, Alsace, re-established in 2000 when Agathe took over her mother’s vineyards. She remains the estate’s winemaker and operator, cultivating six Alsatian varieties, including Riesling, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. The vineyards lie on slopes, including steep and high-altitude sites in the Zinnkoepflé Grand Cru, and include numerous old vines. Most plots have been farmed according to organic principles since the estate’s beginning; the remaining vineyards entered conversion in 2017, with organic certification achieved in 2020. The wines reflect a hands-on domaine working with varied Alsatian sites, including the gravelly Lutzeltal vineyard.
