Schiopetto

Italy

Founded in 1965 in Capriva del Friuli, Mario Schiopetto is a historic Collio estate created by the pioneer widely credited with helping define modern Friulian white wine, beginning with the first pure Tocai bottling. Schiopetto’s work drew on travels in Europe and the USA, plus collaborations in Germany, shaping a house style that marries French elegance with technical precision. The winery farms sites in Collio and Colli Orientali del Friuli, with a strong focus on white varieties alongside some reds. Since 2014 it has been owned by the Rotolo family, with Emilio and Alessandro Rotolo continuing Mario Schiopetto’s production philosophy. The estate emphasizes careful vineyard work and precise cellar practices, though no formal sustainability certification is noted.
