Pago Calzadilla is a family-owned Vino de Pago estate in Huete, Castilla-La Mancha, acquired by Francisco Uribes and Celia Madero in 1979 and now run with their daughter, enóloga Paula Uribes. Its vineyards lie on steep, high-altitude slopes with chalky limestone and calcareous soils, and are farmed organically, sustainably and manually, with gravity-fed, low-intervention winemaking and no pumping. The estate holds its own Denominación de Origen and belongs to Grandes Pagos de España. Wines are made from estate-grown grapes and given extended ageing, often more than four years, before release. The winery also uses photovoltaic energy for self-consumption and welcomes visitors for tastings and vineyard experiences.
