Hugo Wines is a multigenerational family producer in McLaren Vale, South Australia, farming a single estate vineyard in an elevated, cool site shaped by gully breezes. The estate comprises 15 blocks and seven varieties, including 70-year-old, low-yielding bush vines for Grenache. Recently taken over by the fifth generation, the family has farmed for seven generations, with viticulturists Will and John Hugo continuing this hands-on connection to the vineyard. Their wines are made from healthy, balanced fruit and are described as fresh and bright, with complexity and depth. The cooler conditions extend ripening, contributing to an elegant yet intensely flavoured McLaren Vale Shiraz, assembled from carefully selected estate parcels and barrels. Hugo wines have been recognised for more than 40 years.
