Domaine de Clayou is a fourth-generation, family-run estate in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, in Anjou’s Loire Valley. Jean-Bernard and Catherine Chauvin, who took over in 1984, now work alongside their son Denis. Their clay-schist and limestone vineyards are managed with respect for terroir and nature, including manual harvesting, organic practices, and Terra Vitis certification since 2000, alongside the HVE label. The domaine grows Chenin, Cabernet, Grolleau, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, producing a broad range of Anjou and Coteaux du Layon wines, from whites, reds and rosés to sweet wines and Crémant de Loire. Vinification is adapted to each wine, with underground concrete and fiberglass-lined tanks and fine-lees ageing for whites.
