Clark Estate is a fully family-owned and operated winery in Marlborough’s Upper Awatere Valley, founded by Peter and Jane Clark in 1998 and now run by their children Simon and Sarah. The estate’s vineyards face a rugged climate of strong winds, hot days, cool nights and Pacific sea breezes, with old, challenging soils that naturally limit yields and concentrate flavour. Its wines focus on single-vineyard expression and a clear sense of place, including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Noir and traditional-method sparkling wines. The Clericus range uses carefully selected sites, indigenous yeast fermentations and considered oak to create balanced, harmonious wines. The family works in partnership with nature, including the use of frost-protection fans, though no formal sustainability certification is noted.
