Founded by Uwe Schiefer in 1990 in Welgersdorf, southern Burgenland, this independent winery remains closely guided by its founder, who oversees both vineyard work and cellar operations. The estate’s vineyards are predominantly planted to red grapes, especially Blaufränkisch, alongside Pinot Noir and Merlot, with several white varieties also cultivated. Schiefer practices puristic, natural viticulture, allowing herbs and other plants to grow between the vine rows. In the cellar, wines ferment spontaneously and mature slowly on their lees in barrels of various sizes, reflecting a hands-on, restrained approach to winemaking.
