Colle Stefano is a family-owned organic estate in Castelraimondo, in Marche’s Matelica zone, led by Fabio Marchionni, who also serves as winemaker. Rooted in the Marchionni family’s farming history, the first Verdicchio di Matelica vintage was bottled in 1998. The vineyards lie at 420 meters in the foothills of the Umbro-Marchigiano Apennines, with strong day-night temperature shifts, mixed clay, sand, limestone and stony soils, and natural water springs. Certified organic since 1995, the estate farms with manual harvest, organic manure, reduced copper and sulfur, and other low-impact practices, alongside research on living mulch and erosion. In the cellar, winemaking includes gravity-flow handling, low-temperature stainless-steel fermentation, sur-lie aging, and minimal sulfur. The focus is on clear, pure, terroir-driven Verdicchio and mineral wines.
