Capanna is a family-run estate in Montosoli, north of Montalcino, founded through the passion and hard work of Giuseppe Cencioni with his sons Benito and Franco. Giuseppe began bottling the estate’s wines in the 1960s and was one of the 25 founders of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino after the Brunello DOC was established in 1966. Today the winery remains in family hands, with Patrizio and Amedeo of the third and fourth generations personally overseeing both vineyard work and winemaking. The estate’s vineyards are all close to the cellar in the highly regarded Montosoli area. Capanna follows a style rooted in tradition while continuing to invest for the future, producing Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino, Moscadello, Sant’Antimo, and Toscana IGT wines, along with olive oil and grappa.
