Château Desmirail

France

Château Desmirail is a historic Third Growth estate in Margaux, owned and managed by the Lurton family, with Denis Lurton leading the property since 1992. The château combines tradition and modernization, with an 18th-century chartreuse and a rare 19th-century gravity-fed vat room alongside updated winemaking facilities. Farming is reasoned and sustainability-focused: chemical weed control and insecticides have been banned for decades, vineyards are ploughed and treated only when conditions require, and the estate has held HVE certification since the 2018 vintage. Its Cabernet Sauvignon-led blends with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc are made with gentle extraction and careful selection, aiming for elegant, refined wines that can be enjoyed young yet age well.
