Aphros

Portugal

Aphros is a family-owned estate in Minho’s Lima Valley, led by Vasco Croft, a former designer and a pioneer of biodynamic farming and winemaking in Portugal. Rooted in a historic quinta held since the 17th century, the project was reshaped from 2004 as a sustainable, ecological farm, with certified biodynamic vineyards and a strong focus on biodiversity, natural preparations, and minimal-intervention cellar work. Winemaking combines a contemporary cellar with a traditional “medieval” cellar using old Portuguese amphorae and artisanal methods without electricity. Indigenous yeasts, foot treading, low sulphur use, and limited filtration reflect the estate’s hands-on, nature-led approach.
