Poggio Antico

Italy

Poggio Antico is a Montalcino estate in Tuscany focused on Brunello di Montalcino from high-altitude vineyards with diverse calcareous and mixed soils. Fully certified organic since 2020, it follows sustainability-led farming with green manure, permanent grassing, biodiversity-focused practices, selective cover cropping, and drought-resistant rootstocks, alongside low-yield vineyard management and a mix of alberello, spurred cordon, and guyot training. The estate emphasizes plot-by-plot viticulture and careful canopy health. Owned since 2017 by Marcel Van Poecke through Atlas Invest, Poggio Antico is overseen by General Manager Pier Giuseppe D’Alessandro, with winemaking led by Alessio Sostegni, alongside Riccardo Bogi and consultant Marco Simonit.
