Le Chai Duchet is a family estate in Viré, in Burgundy’s Mâconnais, where the Duchet family has grown vines since the 18th century. Alexis took over in 2013 and chose to vinify independently, with a focus on expressing the identity of Burgundian terroirs. The estate is farmed organically and biodynamically, with old vines including some centenarian parcels. Work in the vineyard emphasizes biodiversity through hedges and nest boxes, along with tilling, biodynamic composts, and natural treatments. In the cellar, the approach remains artisanal and low-intervention, with indigenous yeasts, concrete tanks, and reduced sulphur use. The straw-insulated cellar and tasting space were built by the family, reinforcing the domaine’s hands-on, environmentally minded character.
