Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier

France

Domaine Mugnier is a long-established family estate in Burgundy, founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier and today led by fifth-generation owner-winemaker Frédéric Mugnier in Chambolle-Musigny. After the family resumed direct control of the vineyards in 1978, Frédéric took full responsibility in 1985 and has pursued a thoughtful, low-intervention approach focused on transparency and fidelity to terroir. Vineyard work emphasizes manual labor and preventive methods, with no industrial fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides, and a sustained reduction in chemical treatments without formal organic or biodynamic certification. The domaine farms sites in Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges, including the family’s historic Clos de la Maréchale, and is known for wines of finesse and elegance.
