Domaine Castéra

France

Domaine Castéra is a family-run estate in Jurançon, Sud-Ouest, owned by the Lihour family since its great-great-grandfather acquired the property in 1895. Fifth-generation stewards Christian and Franck Lihour oversee the domaine, with Franck leading the winemaking. Its vineyards lie on steep, south- and southwest-facing slopes at 300–350 metres, with silty-clay and clay-limestone soils over Poudingue bedrock. Since 2014, the vines have been farmed organically and biodynamically under Demeter certification. The domaine produces hand-harvested dry Jurançon Sec and sweet passerillage wines, fermented at low temperature in stainless steel.
