Chateau La Serre

France

Chateau La Serre is a Saint-Emilion estate in Bordeaux, owned by the d’Arfeuille family since 1956 and managed day to day by Arnaud d’Arfeuille, with Ets. Moueix involved in vineyard management, winemaking, and marketing. The vineyard is planted mainly to Merlot with Cabernet Franc, on chalk, clay, sand, and limestone plateau soils, with vines averaging 35 years old. Notes consistently point to careful, sustainability-minded farming, including hand pruning, manual harvesting, soil working under the vines instead of chemical herbicides, and a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. Organic farming is also referenced in some sources.
