Bruna Pigato

Italy

Bruna Pigato is a family winery in Ranzo, in Liguria’s Arroscia Valley, focused on Pigato, the local biotype of Vermentino that is closely identified with Western Liguria. Founded by Riccardo Bruna in the early 1970s, it is now run by Francesca Bruna and her family. The estate farms terraced vineyards around Ranzo, Ortovero and Pogli, among woods, stone walls and Mediterranean scrub, and describes its work as organic and guided by biodiversity and balance. Fruit also comes from the historic Russeghine vineyard, with vines over 25 years old, on land owned by the diocesan administration and registered as a vineyard since the late 1700s. Grapes are hand-harvested, softly pressed, and aged in steel and large barrels on fine lees. The wines aim to express Pigato’s saline, herbal character and capacity for complexity with age.
