France

Château de Grandchamp is a modest Bordeaux estate owned and operated by vigneron and winemaker Gonzague Maurice. Its Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are cultivated manually, with organic farming practices followed since 2010, including grass cover between rows and alternating-row ploughing to support soil health. Although formal organic certification was relinquished because of cost and administrative burden, the vineyard approach remains attentive to sustainable cultivation. Wines are made in small, temperature-controlled concrete tanks and finished in tanks and one- to two-year-old barrels, reflecting Maurice’s hands-on, small-scale approach.
