Botani was created in Andalusia by Málaga native Jorge Ordóñez in the late 1990s, in partnership with Austrian sweet-wine specialist Alois Kracher; the collaboration is now continued by his son, Gerhard Kracher. The winery works with a single estate vineyard divided into steep, north-facing plots and also sources grapes from local growers. Its old, goblet-trained vines are dry-farmed and hand-worked using an organic-style, low-intervention approach. Winemaking is led by Ordóñez alongside Telmo Rodríguez, combining traditional viticulture with a collaborative model.
