Bernabeleva

Spain

Bernabeleva is a family-owned estate in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, in Madrid’s Vinos de Madrid zone, at the foot of Cerro de Guisando near the Gredos mountains. The property was acquired in 1923 and the current winery dates to 1925; today it is run by Juan Díez Bulnes and his brother. Working with old vines, especially Garnacha alongside Albillo Real and Moscatel de Grano Menudo, Bernabeleva farms organically with certified biodynamic methods, using hand harvests, native manure, and minimal treatments. In the cellar, the approach is low-intervention, with spontaneous fermentations from indigenous yeasts and separate parcel vinifications to highlight site differences. Their high-altitude granitic vineyards help shape a fresh, fragrant, silky style that emphasizes balance, terroir, and the character of native varieties.
