Tetramythos is a privately owned winery in the Peloponnese, founded and run by brothers Aristos and Stathis Spanos in mountainous Aegialia on the slopes of Mount Chelmos. The brothers grew up in the area and converted their vineyards and other crops to organic farming; the estate has been organically certified since 1997. Vineyards at 450–1000 metres, including many bush vines, benefit from mountain conditions, rocky soils and the influence of the Corinthian Gulf. Working with oenologist Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos, Tetramythos makes organic, vegan wines from Greek and international varieties using natural fermentation, minimal sulphur and small-scale microvinifications in stainless steel, with underground cellar ageing. The range includes PDO Patras and PGI Achaia and Peloponnese wines.
