Casa de Mouraz

Portugal

Founded in 2000 by husband-and-wife António Lopes Ribeiro and Sara Dionísio, Casa de Mouraz is a family-run estate rooted in Portugal’s Dão region. Its vineyards have been organically certified since 1997 and farmed biodynamically since 2006, with the estate now moving toward Demeter certification. Cover crops, biodiversity planting and natural chestnut-flower tea reflect its ecological approach. The wines draw on old, mixed-variety vineyards, including an approximately 80-year-old plot with around 30 co-planted varieties, and are made under the Casa de Mouraz label alongside the experimental Planet Mouraz range. Winemaking involves António Lopes Ribeiro and César Augusto Fernandes, with wines generally vinified in stainless steel and some receiving oak aging. The project also extends to wines from other Portuguese regions under the António Lopes Ribeiro name.
