Bodegas Monóvar

Spain

Bodegas Monóvar is one of Alicante’s oldest wineries, with more than 200 years of history and a strong association with Fondillón, the traditional fortified wine made from Monastrell. Its organically certified vineyards lie in Collado de Azorín, between Laguna de Salinas and Valle del Mañán, in a Mediterranean landscape of pine, holm oak and aromatic plants. The winery combines modern facilities with historic oak barrels and produces a broad range of wines and spirits. Now the fifth acquisition of MG Wines Group, it operates under corporate ownership, with Salvador and Rafael Poveda among the figures associated with the estate; Rafael Poveda leads tours and tastings and is also a key winemaking figure.
