Altesino is an estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, focused on Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and Toscana IGT wines, alongside grappa and olive oil. Owned by the Gnudi Angelini family since 2002, with technical collaboration from Paolo Caciorgna, it is noted for key contributions to Brunello, including the introduction of the cru concept with Montosoli in 1975, early barrique trials in 1979, and its first farm grappa in 1977. Its vineyards are spread across six parcels, including Montosoli, described as the first cru in Brunello history. The estate emphasizes artisanal crop management, careful grape selection, respect for the territory, and a style centered on elegance and the austerity of classic ageworthy Brunello. Aging takes place in part in the historic 15th-century Palazzo Altesi, alongside modern low-impact winery facilities.
