Lothian of Elgin is a boutique estate in Elgin, Western Cape, owned and operated by the Wilson family across three generations of Cape winemakers with Scottish roots. Working in the region’s cool climate, influenced by altitude and the Atlantic Ocean, the estate focuses on varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Shiraz. Master of Wine Richard Kershaw leads a restrained, predominantly non-interventionist approach, with hand-harvested grapes and site-specific wines intended to express each vineyard’s clone, soil and vintage. The estate also produces Biosphere, Estate, Magnum and more accessible Horny Owl wines. Its commitment to working in harmony with nature includes support for the Kogelberg Biosphere Wildlife Rescue & Training Centre through the Biosphere range.
