Based in Cañada, Alicante, Colección de Toneles Centenarios is a joint project involving the Ferrero and Ballester families and winemaker David Carbonell of Vins del Comtat. Formed from the historic Ferrero barrel room, the winery restored old soleras and barrels that had remained untouched for more than 60 years, and focuses on Fondillón, the traditional aged wine of Alicante. Its vineyards are farmed organically, sustainably and biodynamically, with a low-intervention approach. The producer works with old vines and historic Alicante varieties including Monastrell, Arcos, Giró, Tortosí and Verdil, while clay amphoras, concrete tanks and ancient barrels support a style rooted in traditional Alicante viticulture and oenology.
