Vallegarcía is a Vino de Pago estate in Castilla-La Mancha’s Montes de Toledo, near Cabañeros National Park. Owned by Alfonso Cortina and founded in 1997, it was recognized as a Pago with Denominación de Origen Protegida status in 2019 and is part of the Association of Grandes Pagos de España. The high-altitude vineyard sits at 850 metres on poor, acidic, highly evolved soils shaped by erosion from some of the Iberian Peninsula’s oldest mountains, under a continental climate. Vallegarcía focuses on estate-grown wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Viognier, with winemaking overseen by the Boissenot family and consulting input from Michel Rolland. Sustainability and environmental preservation are emphasized through its protected natural setting and energy-efficiency projects.
