Cantine Antonio Mazzella is a third-generation family winery on Ischia, founded in 1940 and now run by Nicola and Vera Mazzella. On the island’s steep, south-facing slopes, vines are cultivated on terraced land and reached by ancient footpaths. The family works with native varieties including Biancolella, Forastera, Piedirosso, Guarnaccia, Uva Rilla and Coglionara, using traditional low-impact methods: vines trained on chestnut pergolas, hand harvesting, pressing and torquing, and maturation in old cellars carved into soft tuff rock. Winemaking is led by Nicola Mazzella, with the wines expressing Ischia’s volcanic landscape and the family’s enduring agricultural identity.
