Producer

Jean Max

France

Jean Max makes small-batch wines in the Pierres Dorées of southern Beaujolais, working with grapes from three historic parcels planted with 70–90-year-old vines. Led by Maxime Barrot, the estate hand-harvests its fruit and follows a minimal-intervention approach: wines are aged in old oak barrels and enameled steel tanks, then bottled without fining, filtration, or added sulfites. They are vegan-friendly and express a commitment to low-intervention winemaking. The estate is in its first year of conversion to certified organic farming, marking a move toward more sustainable vineyard practices.
