Château Val Joanis

France

Château Val Joanis is a family-owned estate in the heart of the Luberon, acquired by Jean-Louis Chancel in 1977. Created as a domaine in 1978, it produces Côtes du Luberon AOC wines, with a focus on rosé blending Syrah and Grenache, alongside permitted white varieties. The property combines vineyards, pine woods and olive groves, and is built on the remains of a Roman villa. Its notable Provençal garden, designed with landscape gardener Tobbie Loup de Viane, includes terraces, an old-fashioned vegetable garden and Mediterranean plantings; it has been designated a “Jardin Remarquable” since 2005. The estate welcomes several hundred visitors each year and emphasizes regional quality charters, though no formal sustainability certification is listed.
