Producer

Gaintza

Spain

Gaintza is a family-owned Txakolina producer in Getaria, Gipuzkoa, founded in 1923 by Andrés Lazkano and still run by the Lazkano family in its fourth and fifth generations. Joseba Lazkano leads winemaking and Urtzi Lazkano oversees the vineyards, continuing an estate-grown tradition rooted in local heritage. With vineyards close to the Cantabrian Sea, Gaintza focuses on fresh, traditional wines. Farming is based on integrated viticulture and organic-sustainable, low-input methods, with minimal phytosanitary use, pergola-trained vines, and a broader commitment to recycled and lower-impact packaging. The winery combines modern technology with traditional practices, including historic pergola-tying methods, while emphasizing respect for its heritage and sustainable agriculture from vineyard to bottle.
