Founded in 1996 by Friulian brothers Valneo and Tonino Livon, Borgo Salcetino is a family-owned estate in Radda in Chianti, within Tuscany’s Chianti Classico region. The Livons are both owners and winemakers. Their vineyards lie on hilly galestro soils, where altitude and marked day–night temperature variation suit the production of red wines. Following a gradual renovation, the estate’s plantings emphasize native Sangiovese and Canaiolo, with a small portion of Merlot, at high vine density. Wines are aged in large oak barrels, while the underground cellar provides stable temperatures. The property’s winery was restored while retaining its territorial character.
