Weltevrede is a historic, family-owned estate in Bonnievale, within South Africa’s Robertson Valley, farmed by the Jonker family since 1912. Now in its fourth generation, Philip Jonker leads both the estate and winemaking. The property focuses particularly on terroir-driven Chardonnay and Méthode Cap Classique, with wines shaped by calcium-rich, calcrete soils and mature Chardonnay plantings. Its approach emphasizes biodiversity, careful vineyard management, low-volume quality-focused viticulture and minimalist winemaking, without cited formal sustainability certification. Weltevrede’s identity is closely tied to expressing the distinctive geology of its vineyards through detailed, premium wines.
