Producer

Torbreck Vintners

Australia

Torbreck is a Barossa producer in South Australia, founded in 1994 by David and Christine Powell and owned since 2013 by Peter Kight. Inspired by the Rhône, it is focused on preserving and championing Barossa’s old-vine heritage, working with estate vineyards and multi-generational grower families across Barossa and Eden Valley. Its sites include historic vineyards at Hillside in Lyndoch, with vines dating back to the 1850s and a heritage-listed winery, as well as celebrated sites such as The Laird. Farming emphasizes dry farming, hand harvesting, soil health, under-vine mulching and preservation of native vegetation, without formal certification. In the cellar, Torbreck follows a traditional, low-intervention approach, including minimal handling and, for some wines, no fining or filtration.
