Robert Mondavi Private Selection was founded in 1994 by Robert Mondavi to express his passion for California’s Central Coast. Owned by Constellation Brands and produced at the Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville, Napa Valley, it operates within a large-scale winery rather than as a small independent estate. The winery is certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance and uses renewable energy, water-conservation, and waste-reduction practices. Its wines emphasize fresh California fruit and bright acidity, while the range also includes wines aged in repurposed bourbon, rum, and rye barrels. Head winemaker Glen Caughell takes a hands-on approach, working closely with growers and using techniques intended to reveal the character of the grapes.
