Producer

Château Maine Gazin

France

Château Maine Gazin is a small, independent family estate in Plassac on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, overlooking the Gironde River. Geoff and Marion Cook acquired the neglected property in 2015 and have restored and replanted the vineyard, operating the vineyard, winery, and cellar door themselves. Farming is organic, begun in 2019 and certified by Ecocert in 2022, with hand-picked fruit from limestone and clay soils. Merlot forms the backbone of the wines, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot play distinctive roles in the blends. Geoff Cook’s winemaking combines respect for Bordeaux tradition with curiosity about replanting and blending, allowing the vineyard to guide the style. The estate focuses on careful fruit selection, thoughtful winemaking, and quality over volume.
