Château Citran

France

Château Citran is a historic estate in Avensan, Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux, now owned by the Merlaut family through Groupe Taillan. Its history reaches back to the 13th century, with later ownership by the Clauzel and Miailhe families before a period under Japanese ownership and subsequent transfer to the Merlauts. The estate produces Grand Vin du Château Citran and its second wine, Les Moulins de Citran. Vineyard work is described as plot-specific and sustainability-minded, with row reorientation, cover crops on some parcels, and about one-third of the vines farmed organically, while other plots are managed with mechanical soil work and conventional treatments. Château Citran holds HVE level 1 certification. Éric Boissenot is associated with the wines.
