Le Macchiole is a historic, family-owned boutique winery in Bolgheri, Tuscany, founded in the early 1980s by Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli. Now run by Cinzia with her sons, it farms about 34 hectares of vineyards across 27 distinct soil types. Since 2002, the estate has practiced organic viticulture, adopting biodynamic methods in 2010. The philosophy centers on expressing terroir through single-varietal wines, achieved by meticulous manual harvesting, grape sorting, and plot-by-plot management. Le Macchiole is also known for cultural projects, collaborating with artists on murals and installations that celebrate the Bolgheri landscape and its poetic heritage.
